Cuemakers/tinkerers bad deal thread?

I hate to see anyone say anything About Dick here, especially since It was a conversation between him and I. I knew someone would say something when i first read that, and normally I would be the first person to do so Myself, but I have to say I honestly believe your barking up the wrong tree. I realize it did'nt sound good, but I also Happen to believe I know enough of him to know that this man has received the bad end of the stick as much if not more then the good. I would hope though that atleast the place in question was one of those bad ends. I also know enough to believe In my heart he would normally do the right thing, enough so I would'nt hesitate to deal with Him Myself. I can't think of one dishonest thing he's said to me. Anyone that has dealt with me knows I'm as honest as it comes, and I pay My depts, sometimes too much so. Whether someones likes what I say or not is another thing, but one thing is for sure, I am honest when it comes to paying it forward, and From what I know of this man he is not full of any BS, and always tells it straight to me. I could be wrong, I guess it's always possible but My instinct tells me different, and it has a pretty good track record.
His own words says it all if you look hard enough, I'm sure when he posted this that he was smart enough to realize what the reaction might be here, yet he still did, then when he was called on It, he did'nt make any excuses for it, Is that in It'self not honest. Most people would have backtracked the issue or tried to think some over exagerated story up. I guess next time we have a conversation, then it shoulfd be private, but then everyone would miss out on any usefull content.:(
It seems that some people have no idea of the crap some of us have payed good money for, only the have it broke off. Most of us take it on the chin and move on. I would always tell someone of such an error that I knew was honest with me, that's just My way, but can't say there is not few from the past I would,nt like to stick it back to. Not saying that's right, just the honest truth.
I can be fooled, not fool proof, but have an idea of who's who, and most of these people that responded, I can say are good honest people, and Some of them Know him alot better then I.
Give the man a break, Please.;)

I may have missed reading a post, but I only saw one individual jumping on him for his comment. I did see several come to his defense, and believe they were doing so just to vent over having been "screwed" by others in the past. I agree, most of us just "take it on the chin" and keep on, keepin on. Our time is probably better spent by just learning from the experience rather than moaning a groaning over it.

Like others, I have had my share of crappy wood delivered. But for the most part, I am happy with the vendors I do business with. What comes to mind is the old saying "Crap on me once, shame on you. Crap on me twice, shame on me!"

Well I guess the people statement as in plural was more of a generalization, and yes does stem farther then just this thread, altough is not intended to stereotype or directed at anyone in paticular. Just that there seems to be many mis-conceptions IMO. Not to sit here and cry about it Myself, but anyone that does this and deals with people has probably noticed the mis-representation that cuemechanics or cuebuilders are so well off that they can afford to do work for next to nothing or on consignment, handle a bad load of lumber here & there, and what ever else comes up, then take It on the chin everytime time a deal goes south. Just too hard to make It like that. You would get more use out of your money by throwing It in the fireplace and burning it. Atleast you get a few seconds of heat out of it, and your more carefull not to get burned yourself. Yes I agree, "second time shame on you", and I believe that's a good outlook and baseline for lessons learned. I usually learn the first time Myself, and I try to listen to people who's judgements I trust when They tell Me their experiences. I do not look at It as moaning and Groaning though, If It saves others from the same thing. If you were a stock broker and got a tip from a fairly trusted source that a certain stock was bad, you would want to stay away from it more then likely.
If It was'nt for the majority of fine people that understand what all goes into It, And are decent & trustworthy, I don't believe We would see as many of the fine Makers as We do today. That, I believe Is a good part of what helps keep the drive alive when times get tough, and everything weighs heavy. That and just the pure love of it ofcoarse.

I agree there are many wonderfull venders, and We can thank our lucky stars for those;) :)

:) Me too kelly, My electric is something else, even in the summer the ac will eat you out of house and home. Not to mention everything else that gets run. You'd love it here the last couple of days though, the temp is just right.

Cue Crazy, I did not mean to offend when I used the words "moaning & groaning". I re-read my post and then realized that sounded rather ugly. Apology is offered if that was taken wrong. I should have chosen other words.

No offense taken at all, In fact I saw us agreeing for the most part anyway. Sometimes My wording is less then perfect, so If it seemed that way My appologies. It was just a opinion, and one of the different outlooks on Life I'm trying to train My brain for. Just like the ones I aggreed with you on. Not in disagreement, just a different outlook, You know, the whole knowledge is power concept. I don't mind being well informed, but ofcourse I do aggree there has to be a limit.

Speaking of Moaning and groaning LOL, I'd be lying if I said I have never done any Myself, because I've done plenty I,m sure, altough I do try to hold Back when I can, and sometimes things come out that way no matter how I try to word them.:D
I think It would be one gifted individual to go through life, and never have their moments with that.
