I started playing pool over 30 years ago (OMG I just realized I'm a geezer). I will list top 15 things I learned over the years about cues and cuemakers.
1.Just because a cue cost more doesn't necessarily mean it will play better.
2.There are many types of joints available (they are not better than each other just different)
3.Ten cues made with Ten different woods all having the same taper will have ten different "feels"
4.Ten cues made with Ten different tapers all using the same wood will have ten different "feels"
5.The "Magic" happens when the cue is used.... not built.
6.Finding the right cuemaker is as important and hard as finding the right cue
7.The right cuemaker and cue for you 20 years ago may not be the right cuemaker and cue for you now
8. The WWF has 10,000 distinctive personalities
The Cuemakers have 10,001
9. You need "game" and a "cue" one does not cure the ills of the other.
10. When it comes to how to build a cue the customer is always right even when he's wrong
11.Women dig custom cues
12.House sticks warp..... custom cues have slight deviations in straightness
13.Never let you wife/girlfriend shoot with your cue
14.The price you paid the cuemaker is different than the price you tell your wife you paid
15.Just because your stick says "BUDWISER" doen't make it a custom cue
These are just my opinions and in no way reflect the views of ...AZ billiards... any of its affiliates... or members
