CUES, To Copy or Not to Copy...MY Clarification

And Tim, believe me I am not trying to bust your nuts here. But as a designer it was pointed out that while you have not ever copied any individual design of your own for more than one cue maker it is clear that the style has been promiscuously given to several of them. Thus leading to the conclusion by some outside observers that cuemaker B is clearly trying to "copy" cuemaker A's style.

I have done the same by giving my influence to a few case makers and then having their cases identified as ours due to the similarities.

Thank you for that insight I think alot of people are thinking the same thing.

No John. ALL who I have worked with either knew or had known about any "others" who wanted to adorn their cues using the/my floating point "style". Nothing was given "promiscuously".

For YOU to put such a definitive "spin"(promiscuously) on a statement towards me an my actions and intentions (like i did something underhanded or sleezy), with no evidence (because there in none), is yet another egregious statement made up out of thin air to try and make point that's just not there.

Tisk Tisk John. I would have thought better of you...

John, "believe me I'm not trying to bust your nuts here", you or others can copy someone else all you want and feel any way you want John. Whatever floats the boat. But it's YOU/them that has to live with the things done. Some live well some don't. Some have no problem sleeping at knight. I guess some can find a way to justify themselves.

I sleep very well John. I do it knowing indiscretion and promiscuity , which evidently runs so rampant in this world, was never a part of my actions. BUT THATS ME. To each their own I guess....

No offense was meant. I sleep quite well at night thank you. And if I ever wanted to make cues and liked the designs you have done and thought that style would sell then I would work in that style. I personally would never make exact copies of anything you have done but I would not have any problem copying your "style".

If that is offensive to you then sorry. I have gone through every emotion possible regarding this topic and without a doubt there is no on on azb who has had their work copied more than me.

I stated my current feeling on the matter. If that makes me a disgusting person in your opinion I guess I will have to live with that. Already forgot it before I finished typing this sentence.

Im not really offended John and you're not a disgusting person. I Just wanted to stick to the facts, for myself that is, thats all. All I really wanted in the first place was clarification and I think Ive made myself clear.

You know theres not many makers making cues in this style and over time Ive learned one of the reasons IS because it isnt that easy to "copy" the style. Hell I have a hard time as it is commng up with new looks that work...LOL :wink

Be well John....

I hate agreeing with someone who is always wrong but this time I have to agree with you.

I would agree that working in your style is not easy. For me to create just one of your inlays would take me several hours to do it right from scratch. At least an hour if I started with an image to overlay.

And that's just to do them in Corel. I would not have a clue how to do them in AutoCAD and account for whatever intricacies and variables are needed to deal with each material.

I would have to be really really convinced that I could sell cues done in that style.....and if I am a no name maker I probably would not have that much chance.

Yeah. I use Corel as well and then import the crude drawing into my cad/cam program (GibbsCam) and use it as a background template to work with and create the machinable part and pocket. Kind of like using tracing paper. Like you mentioned there are some variables I have to deal width but I think the width of the inlay is the biggest hurdle. I don't like to use 4th axis wrapping (rotary machining) with the designs so I can only go so wide before the design looks "honky". Honky designs are easy to create..LOL

According to Thomas Wayne, you messed up with a knot design. Even with that said, I must be crazy to agree with you but I do.

Huh? Once again, no one cares what you agree with and what you don't. You're an anon whose content isn't worth paying attention to.

To clarify there are some anonymous people who post here whose input is highly valued and whom I could care less if I ever know their name. At Large is one of them...everything he or she posts is good and valuable information.

Nothing you post has any value that I have seen.

The reason is that you think you are always right and nobody should have an opinion of you.

Your aiming discussions are prime examples of this behavior.
