Are the cue collectors suffering more than the watch collectors.
In other words is collecting suffering in general?

Watch guys are doing well because they don't overprice their stuff. Watches actually have more value then some wooden stick. I will pay for a Patek before I spend that money on an equivalent priced cue.

Watch community are looking to move stuff so they will price below market. Cue guys are living in the past and setting laughable prices.

and owns many watches. I just don't value cues like I do my watches. First and foremost this is a billiards forum and not a stick forum.

I do cherish and value my skills at pool, APA 9, than bragging about sticks.

Not my pic, but wearing this as we speak, except mine is rose gold.

oh ya mean the picture you took from ablogtowatch.com... nice try Dommy...

Dom, i understand this is pointless.... have a nice day.. and enjoy your watches! and cues!

There is aesthetic beauty as well as mechanical beauty
in both cues and watches. It is just that watches are so
much more complex in there execution.
Dom I'm going to send you a pm.

Before this turns into a pissing match, i'd like to throw something out there. I have cues that I would be willing to trade for a nice watch in the 1-2k range. My house was broken into a few months ago and my watches were stolen, so it would be nice to have something I can wear again. If anyone has something to trade, please shoot me a PM.

Also, I'd like to say that all markets fluctuate. Now is a great time to buy cues as there are many options out there, especially if your just looking for a playing cue...

You don't "lose" till you sell, and from what it looks like you can buy a bunch of watches in the 10-12k range for 50-60% I don't think cues are doing that bad. Neither are doing well though.

What kinda cues and your values?

Life is simple for pool players like me.....I'll still buy a good cue once in a while....
....I can actually fire balls into a pocket with them.

I have one good watch, which I inherited....
...haven't used it to tell time since '97, when I got my first cell phone.

Good lawd no! Cue collecting is stupid, unless by collecting, you actually mean having a collection. There are not many cue collectors, only cue investors and investing in cues is STUPID...

I am still fairly young and do not have a large watch collection yet. My cue collection is actually more numerous. But my uncle Roger used to own a jewelry store in LA and I have learned a fair bit about watch collecting over the years. Yes watches are doing better than cues as far as holding value. But only 2 watch brands truly hold their value or go up in value and that is Patek Phillippe and Rolex.

I don't know you, but I find it hard to believe that a guy who claims to be wearing a Daymatic would endorse the Players brand. I like watches, too, but I don't have anything crafted by A. Lange & Sohne. My experience with people who actually do, though, is that they are brand conscious. The Players thing doesn't add up.

As some of you have already stated, if you buy certain watch brands one will never loose money. Someone mentioned Patek. This year Patek lowered the MSRP of certain references which happened once before, hence if you bought a new watch last year, this year it is lower. Regards

Finally! Someone who actually KNOWS watches... Thanks Hal.. Hope all is well!
