Is it true that Viking went under? I have a Viking and like it. Also heard Player went under. These are rumors, but I would like the real story.

Viking did stop operations and sold all their equipment last year, I have no information concerning why.

Player is not a company, it is a Brand name and the distributer for Player cues Cue and Case Billiards is alive and well.

I still have my first cue... a 57" Viking merry widow in what I believe is walnut and with a wool wrap, and a clear plastic window butt.

I bought it new in ~1966 for $60, iirc.

It may be worth $75 now. lol

Viking Cue Stops Production of Pool Cues
11/2/10
Viking Cue Mfg., Inc. of Stoughton, has reportedly stopped production of its two-piece pool cues as it negotiates the sale of the business. Viking is one of the nation’s largest makers of the pool cues, and an article posted at JSOnline.com suggests that improved quality of imported and relatively inexpensive cues from China has hurt the domestic industry.

that is from one of the business papers in madison wi. sad but true....:(
