Based on the "How Good Is Your Cue Ball Control" started by Dan White 2 weeks ago. We have created a drill contest for you to practice the cluster breaking skills and further this discussion.

Here is the proposed rules we set out. Public comments and discussion regarding the rules are welcome. We will take in everyone's comments carefully and the rule will be finalized and in effect by Oct 7, 2006.
Scoring System
All balls (1 to 15) has to be pocketed. You can get additional bonus points by achieving the following listings.
Cluster Points:
If you sink a ball and break a cluster loose with the cue ball, you get 5 points. While breaking the cluster, if the cue ball touches the ball that has the same suit as the object ball sunk before, you get additional 5 points. This is to encourage people practicing finer cue ball control.
Once any cluster has been touched by any ball, it is considered "broken" and no more Cluster Points can be applied to that group. The maximum cluster point for any one shot is 10 points to encourage people dealing with only one cluster per shot. The maximum cluster points possible is 60 points.
8 Ball Points:
If you can sink all solids (or all stripes) first, the 8 ball next, and then all the stripes (or all solids), you get 20 points.
Rotation Point:
If you can shoot down 1 to 15 in a order, you get 30 points.
Bank Point:
If you make bank shots three times a roll, you get 10 points.
Misses:
You are allowed to have 5 misses as long as the shot is not a foul (scratches or no rails). After you miss, you must shoot from where the cue ball ended up from the last shot. each miss counts as -10 points towards the total score.
Example:
John shoots 1 ball, the cue ball travelled to hit 7 ball. He gets 10 points from breaking 7-15 clusters.
Next, he shoots 7 ball, the ball travelled to hit 14 ball. He gets 5 more points from breaking 6-14 cluster.
Much later, he pocketed all the solids, shot the 8 and ran out the rest, with 2 misses and 35 total cluster points during his run. His score is 35 points (20-20+35 = 35).
