Cuetec Pin Replacement

Here are a few more pics. Two of the joint, I drilled it out, bored it and cored it/plugged it with a piece of purpleheart (purpleheart was all I had laying around at the house), now I just gotta drill it and tap it for a 5/16-14 pilot pin and it will be finished and complete.

And here is a pic of the shaft done and complete, I drilled out the 3/8 (or 9mm) Cuetec pin hole and put a brass insert in the shaft for a 5/16-14 pin. The brass is threaded all the way down in the shaft except for the lip which I bored out the shaft and recessed the lip so the shaft would be a flush wood to wood fit (or wood to fiberglass or whatever the dang butt is made of,lol). I lost the black ring and the silver ring that was on the shaft but that doesn't matter, I'm happy with the way it turned out and so is my team captain.

Just an update with a pic.

I would really like to thank Darcy for taking the time to send me one single pin all the way from Canada, many thanks and you are a true gentleman.

Come to find out doing this job, the tap(s) I have bought from Travers are not long enough to do a task such as joint pins this long, good for j/p's and other small things but not long enough for pins. I probably did the cardinal sin but I had to cut about 3/4" off the pin to make it work, although the new pin was still longer than the original Cuetec pin that I removed so I didn't worry too much. My team captain is tickled to death to have a spare break stick for someone on the team so all is happy and it was a fun learning experience. With the rest of the pics above, here is a pic of the pin installed in the butt, done, complete, and he's been useing it for about a week now. :)
