Cuetec - R360 vs Older Cuetecs

I have a handful of older Cuetec Cues and I am wondering how the R360 compares to them? I got my old Starlight Cue out today and played with it and what a piece of junk it was. With the hard rubber implex joint it gives that cue the rubbery feeling when you hit.

Finally, after hosing up most opportunities, I unscrewed it and started playing with the Joss again and ran a couple of racks.

My question is - how does the new R360 compare to the older Cuetec cues as far as playability? Close? Night and Day?

Old cuetec was great, let’s not forget that Earl Strickland played his best using a cuetec cue, even if he deny it but the truth is that Earl the Pearl had his best winnings with his old cuetec, the white and black, then with the later one I remember it as just black cuetec.

Maybe yours don’t hit well because of bad condition or something.

Also the new R360 is a great cue; Shane did pretty well with it so we can say for sure that it is a good cue, I myself hit balls with Shane R360 cue and it is an amazing cue, I also owned a Earl signature old cuetec cue and it was one of my favorite.

But if you actually want to buy a new cuetec why not wait a little bit for the new upcoming technology, I believe they will be releasing a new shaft soon, it’s low deflection and is black just like the revo, Shane is currently shooting with it and winning tournaments with it, I suggest to wait for that shaft if you want to buy a cuetec.

I never shot with the older cuetecs, but I’ve been shooting with the r360 for 3 years or so and I really like it. May not be the best cue around but it is a great cue for the price

Years ago the old Cuetec cues was like driving a Mack truck.

Cuetecs made today is more like driving a sports car that handles good.

Earl never really cared for Cuetec cues.

Well for starters you're comparing wood to fiberglass which we all know is a night and day difference right off the bat.

That said, I have both an SST in my son's cue case and an R360 here at the house (and yes...I too have an older Cuetec, but I gave away the SST shaft and bought an R360 for it). Here's my quick comparison:

The old SST shaft gets incredibly sticky in humidity, requiring a glove to be worn (unless you like the feel of the shaft bouncing up and down on your bridge hand). It also has a sort of hollow, "tinky" feel with the hit. Maybe a different tip may somewhat alleviate the feel...I don't know. I can play well with one as I mostly wear a glove anyway and can fade the feel at contact, but many, many others eschew the shaft and regard it as a POS.

The R360 is another story. I have OB's, Predator's, an HXT and have shot with a couple other supposedly LD shafts. I rank the R360 right there alongside of them as far as the feel goes. They may not have as much LD qualities as the others, but after shooting for years previously with hard maple shafts, I don't need any more LD than it offers. Add that together with the price and I consider the R360 a fantastic bang-for-your-buck.

In summary, I opine that if you are considering an R360 shaft then by all means pull the trigger. I don't think you will be disappointed.

Do the Cuetec Cues nowadays still have that hard rubber type Implex joint? Or are they true stainless steel?

Its that Implex joint that causes the Cuetec to have that hard, rubbery hit to it.

Bumping again in hopes of getting a response about the Cuetec joint.

The outside and pin of the shaft is stainless steel.

The shaft has a very hard screw-in material, as seen here:
https://www.seyberts.com/cuetec-r360-shafts/cuetec-r360-cue-shaft/

and is wrapped in stainless, too.
There should be a slight metal-to-metal connection, too.

No rubbery feel at all, it's direct, but not like shooting a brick.

Highly recommended cue, as they also make 11,5mm nowadays.

Cheers,
M

Is Cuetec phasing the R360 out?

I have one and really like it but I might need to replace it at some point.

I looked on Amazon, the Cuetec website, and elsewhere and they don't seem to be making new ones right now. Maybe they are just going to emphasize the CF shafts.

They still make 360's: https://www.cuetec.com/product-category/r360-cues/ I don't see them dropping this line anytime soon. Seyberts has them.
