a friend wants me to reduce the diameter of his cuetec shaft, it has the fibreglas coating, can these be sanded down?

if so how much can it be taken down? it is .513" or 13.03mm, can it be taken down to 12.5mm without being damaged or warping?

thanks for any info,
louis

those cuetec shafts are wood with a fiberglass coating. once you get down to 12.5mm you will definitely remove all the coating and be down to the bare wood. that could be OK, but keep in mind:

cuetec uses very poor quality and unseasoned wood. most are maple on the inside, some of the very low end ones are ramin wood. the fiberglass is really the only thing preventing warping of the wood, so if you remove it, you have a high chance of warpage.

I second that, I've even seen the shaft warp even with the fiberglass still intact.I maybe wrong, but I believe a 12mm shaft can be ordered for it.

yes, cuetec does make a 12mm shaft that you can get in the US. they also make a 12.5mm (or did), but it wasn't available in the US. I think you can get them from Canada still.
