Rick that redwood will pop when the finish is applied. Should be beautiful.... You should also feel some peace of mind that you used stabilized redwood, which makes it "more durable than non-stabilized hardwoods". No denting your redwood with a thumb nail.... no swelling or shrinking from climate change (wet or dry). Post some more pics when they're done. Love to see them.

Seeing some of the other fine examples here, my choice of ebony as the other wood in this cue looks to be the right one. The black contrast should really bring out the beauty of the redwood.

Wow, I am going to be embarrased showing mine. You guys did real good.:bow-down:

Getting closer!
The shooter will have a black Ringtail Lizard wrap. The shafts are OB Classic Pros with Tom's UltraSkin tips.
The ebony and redwood break cue will have a Limbsaver installed and Odega tips on the purpleheart shafts.
The jumper is a few steps behind but I'll post pics of it soon. It has a 2 piece handle, 2 shafts with a black one piece G-10 tip ferrule combo and matching ringwork.

The black shaft is purpleheart? Is it naturally that way or did you stain it? Looks nice together
