I recently purchased a cue with an extremely curly shaft. Upon receipt I noticed some very tiny bumps in the shaft and thought they might be from the shaft being raked across something. I took it to my local cue guy and after cleaning and inspection he said the bumps were the soft spots in the wood between the hard curls. The only thing we could come up with is maybe cutting the shaft down and re-sealing it. I really don't want to have the shaft taken down and my cue guy seems hesitant to mess with it knowing the issue. My question is has this happened to anyone else and if so what did you do to remedy it? Is there a fix or did I buy firewood? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
