cushion height

I was wondering, on a 9 foot table what is the proper height from the point of the cushion to the bed?
At the room I play, the balls have a tendency to "climb" the rails on occasion on some of the tables, and I think they may be a bit low.
Thanks for any help.

Your probably right, or the cloth is pulled to tight or the cushions are coming loose in some spots. If you get down on your knees and look down the cushion like a barrel on a rifle you should be able to see if the cloth is pulled to tight or if there is inconsistency in cushion hieght.

The cushion height is suppose to be at 1 29/64ths of an inch above the playing surface, easier to understand at 1 7/16ths of an inch high. But, even if it's at the right height, dirty balls and cloth can make the balls kind of jump off the cushions as well. Sd is correct in what he's saying as well, but there are quite a few reasons that balls will jump off the cushions as well, humidity being one reason too, it causes a sticky playing surface as well as sticky balls. If the location serves fried finger food, eating and handling the balls will cause them to get dirty as well.
