Custom and High End Cues on the Decline?

The Becue original white shafts were cosmetically perfect, but the finish requires that you wear a glove.
If they are anything like the Whyte carbon, it's a coating. It's not great, but if you shoot with a glove normally, it's not horrible either. It's basically the same thing as the "wood grain" CF shafts on Aliexpress.

There's a company called Proqure that has different colored "carbon", but I couldn't get a straight answer out of them if it's a coating or not, so I'd say it most likely is. I'd be happy to be wrong though.

I'd love for a company to come up with a method or formulation to tint or color carbon fiber. I'd be interested to see if something like a graphene sheet could be colored and roll or filament wind a shell over a quality CF shaft.

never heard of but if it wasn't a coating they would for sure promote that aspect..

Yep, they're the ones who have traveled all over the country and out of the country for work, they're the ones...nevermind you're to dumb to talk to.

You sound just like Obama telling people they didn't build their business because roads etc etc. Another idiot leftie that cannot make it on their own and has no pride whatsoever.

You my very ignorant non friend are going on ignore.
Can you guys take the political rhetoric to NPR? I tire of hearing the tribalism on the main forum. There are other lenses to view life through than political parties and "MAGAts or Libtards." It gets really tiring for those of us not completely off the deep end in this stuff.

I really don't understand how the machinations of politicians and their donor class can entirely tint one's worldview. Go outside and touch grass or something.

There's all kinds of players who are collectors on here. Why would you collect pool cues if you don't play pool? 🤷‍♂️
The same reason collectors hoard vintage Martin guitars, value investment. They are not players either. Modern players wouldn’t invest in a Balabuska, just to put a carbon fiber shaft on it to play.

When i was young I didn’t really play much. In my late 40’s I took it up.again and was thrilled playing with the original Cuetec with a Le Pro tip. It was wrapped in fiberglass, so it was happy to live in my car trunk. I played APA and worked my way up to a 7 and would still use that cue if the weight bolt hadn’t broken loose. (I also broke with it, and broke pretty hard.) as I aged I turned to better (more expensive stuff). I now see the young guys and older guys, with a cheap butt and a carbon fiber shaft. They don’t care about a “fancy” custom cue, and it they want fancy, they buy a Players decal butt. I would guess that those of us that care about custom high end custom cues are a dying breed, and at some point values will be affected unless a hard core collectors group remains. I doubt they will include players as the collectors.
you have to blame it on the changing times as well. old gens are lucky that they are able to afford when everything was within their grasp. don't have to save a lot to set them for life. and buying custom cues wasn't just a luxury, it was spent on mad money. nowadays, people can't even afford to pay the rent, bills, or even save for a holiday without working themselves to death.

I only use CF shafts on my butts, I don't play with the original shafts.

When you isolate the shaft you really start to see what the butt brings to transmission of hit. The impact of certain design, joint, and construction choices become glaring.

Some players prefer wood shafts some CF, just because your prefer CF does not mean you don't appreciate custom cues.
