custom cue butt taper and diameter

Hi guys

I am currently playing with a Richard Harris Bluegrass cue wrapless and I find the butt diameter (handle part) to be just perfect for me. I am now looking to expand and try out other makers but the few that I have tried seemed to have skinny butts. While I do know that most of the better known makers may adjust a custom cue's taper based on customer specs, I prefer to buy in the secondary market where I dont have to wait for a particular maker's build time.


I live in the Philippines, i do not have the opportunity to try out a bunch of cues from the better known US makers before buying so I am hoping someone else can help me on which ones to look for.

Get a set of calipers and measure the handle of the cue you like. Compare it to measurements from folks selling the cue on the secondary market.

Most time, these measurements are taken in standard places, at the joint and at the end of the butt cap of the cue.

Other than that I cannot recommend a cue to look at.

There is an interview where Richard Harris explains that he makes cues modeled after what he played with, C and D McDermotts. He uses a parabolic taper though, similar to SW, Howard I think, Joey B., and quite a few others. I would suggest using the search function and reading every thread on BG cues and specs.
 
thanks for the suggestions. Will measure my richard harris butt and compare with my friend's too
