Alright, I just got the update on my friends cue. He said he told me he inspected it very closely, and was unable to find any flaws at all in the construction or finish of the cue. He had a hard Water Buffalo tip put on it, and described the hit as firm, but not stiff. He said it felt more solid than the Viking he had been using. As for deflection, his unscientific test produced the following results. Placing the cue ball on the head spot and shooting down table aiming for the foot spot, with soft shots, the cue ball would travel nearly dead straight down the table with enough english to have the cue ball rebound off the foot rail toward the side pocket. With a harder hit using the same english, the cue ball would deflect between a half inch and an inch to the side of the foot rail center diamond.
He was overall extremely pleased with the cue, and with the quality of work Wayne did. He told me that he would without hesitation, recommend Wayne to anyone looking for a quality custom cue at a very reasonable price. (Don't ask, the price is between the cuemaker and the customer, and out of respect for both, I won't say. I will say that I consider it a bargin.)
Thanks again for all the responses.
