Custom Cue Opinions

the design's a little too ... 'chunky' for me. the inlays in the buttsleeve remind me of a joss (i hate joss!), and the rings are too big/noticeable.

but hey, it's not my cue, it's probably beautiful to many people. also, it appears to be well-made and detailed, i was just ripping on the aesthetics.

This cue isn't bad. I checked the rest of the guy's site and I can't say that I loved those cues too much. But your friend's cue is pretty. Good point geometry as well.

That is a beautiful cue. I really like it. Hopefully it hits as well as it looks.

man thats nice is this guy from nc ??

Yeah, his shop is about 3 miles from here.

My friend helped pick the design, so I'm sure he's going to be pretty happy with it. Now, If I can just talk this guy into swapping a nice new cue for some lessons.....;)

It's okay ...

but I don't care for the lack of symmetry between the inlays on the butt
aleeve vs. the forearm inlays (expecailly right by wrap ar top). It detracts
from the overall look of the cue. Don't care for the wrap.

Saw a cue last weekend at a tournament in Hutch made by Bob Owen (Shurtz cue) that was really nice. Beautiful points, inlays all edged with
Brass (had me fooled, thought it was gold), seamless black leather wrap,
and Bob's version of a 314 shaft (foamed filled at end). He has been using it for 18 months as his cue. Said it would have sold for $1,500 originally, about $1,100 now. It looks better than many I have seen that sell for
$2,200-2,800, hits good, but I am not used to a 314 styled shaft. Real nice cue though, and good looking.

I love it, the whole design is nice. The cue hit's me as "expensive", and i like the bold design.

I thought exactly the same thing. The rings are a little large for my taste and the design is chunky.

However, the execution looks flawless. Good craftsmanship and finishing. I like a longer ferrule, but that is about it.

I also like the points and forearm.

That was my immediate reaction. Looks like a Joss. But I don't
hate Joss.

As for who made it, the link refers to the maker's site!
