Custom Cue Question for Sourhern Players

I've been looking for a Schick and a Black for awhile now. Hard to find either that fits my budget. I will keep looking though. I had one of each that was lost in Katrina. I got both of those cues around 2001. I still have a "prototype" It's George cue. It is now being refinished by a local cue maker. I still have a Joss that I won in a tournament somewhere about 1998-2000 and a 1x2 leather It's George case that survived the storm. I worked for It's George in about 92 for awhile making cases.

Grew up in East Texas, served my first tour in the Army in Fort Polk...shot a lot in Georgia, too, back then. Everybody I hung with lusted after a Richard Black; I really wanted a Joss West, too. I saw a Scruggs once, and it was too out of my price range. Saw a Balabushka once and several Szams. I got a GEM (Gary Medlin) and was more than happy.

So to answer your question, in my part of the World, Richard Black.

Runge cue would be my suggestion,,unless you can afford a Szamboti. Back in the mid 70's I tried a number of different cues, then found my Szamboti,,still have it ,,for the money Runge comes as close,,IMO

Thanks for the suggestions folks. I appreciate them. I guess I can explain myself now. I'm a published author. Nothing big, no bestsellers, in fact not even a full novel. I've sold a few pieces of short fiction to magazines. The only one that got any wide readership was a post-apocalyptic short story. Anyway, I'm a nobody in the world of fiction writers. But I'd like to write a full novel, and pool is topic mumero uno on my list. I have a story already in outline that was inspired by events in my life, brought to the my attention by recent deaths of friends, and certain landmark buildings in my past being demolished. I guess I'm having my Nickleback's Photograph version of a midlife crisis. The cue would be a huge centerpiece in the book, even a catalyst of sorts for the story. My reluctance to share this as the reason for my thread should be self evident considering that you all know the number of POS troll naysayers on this forum. Anyway, keep up the suggestions and thanks.
