Custom cue question

Do a search

You can do a web search and take a look at the many varieties of "sneaky pete" cues. Many are far from "sneaky" and to me a true "sneaky" looks like a house cue, but is a 2 piece cue.

I would do a web search and see what Pat Diviney and Bob Frey have to offer. Pat usually has some full splice Bar Hustler cues made up for a little over 400 bucks. Most of his cues use the radial pin. I have 2 of Pat's cues that fit today's definition of a SP cue. One is Cocobolo and the other is Gabon ebony with matching and interchangeable shafts. I shoot the same with either cue and they will out last me. I'm also a big fan of Pat's Lake Salvage shafts.

Buying an already made cue is usually the cheapest route to go. I just like collaborating with a cue maker to get the cue length, weight, balance and shaft taper I want as well as the type of wood.

Learning though osmossis. I don't paint cars but I know what a clearcoat is just through driving them for almost 30 years and I know that those Macco paint specials suck. It just seeps in after a while.

If you did not notice, there is a lot of sarcasm and funny replies on this forum. I just start out by thinking nothing anyone writes if fully serious.

Think of it like your best friend calling you a brainless ugly ape if you forget your keys at home or something. On here you have 100 best friends calling you an ugly ape :)

Oh, and rotate your avatar pic please, I keep wanting to turn my head when I see it, unless you actually have your table bolted to the wall that is.

Oh #2, did you actually want to get a Sneaky or one of the other type?

I think I've got to crop my avatar pic but I haven't figured out how.(waiting for my daughter to visit) . It drives me crazy too lol
I always thought of a sneaky as a plain cue . Until today I was unaware of structure differences but I've learned something new today. I would take either type but now I'm wondering if the sneaky will have a better hit. What do you think about Jacoby ?

I'm thinking about having a sneaky made and I'm curious if I'd be cheaper to order it without points as I'm looking for performance rather than appearance. I want a solid hit with a long taper and about a 12.75 shaft. The best hitting cue I've ever played with belonged to Scott Lewis and was a Richard Black. Any help or suggestions are appreciated

This guy has Dufferin Sneaky Petes

I guess a sneaky IS a plain cue but to use your profession analogy, if a guy came in and asked for a blue paint job you'd come out and ask WHICH blue? There are 3 kinda plain cues, and some "sneakies" can get pretty fancy like the one at the bottom of the page here http://www.new2youqs.com/cues/josey.html

Many people think that a full splice sneaky is the pure form of a cue. It will likely have the most solid and probably stiffer hit than other cues. It's tough to say what is a "better" hit as it's pretty much 100% subjective. You can measure flex, you can measure stiffness, you can measure compression, you can measure deflection, but you can't measure the "hit" or "feel", just describe it a bit.

To rotate the pic, just right-click on it, select Edit and you'll see a way to rotate it, do it and save it. You don't want to "crop" it, copping a picture is cutting out part of the picture if you wanted to say only have the table in the image, you'd select the table and then "crop" the rest of the stuff out a bit like zooming in. You want to rotate it.

In my opinion, and many others, Al Romero (at Hard Times, Bellflower) makes on of the best hitting sneaky petes you can find. Brand new, built to your spec, you can get one for no more than $250. Best bang for your buck in the business.

In all fairness to the smart*&&$&, your name is Petey POOL dude and you have 3,000 plus posts on a pool forum. Just sayin :)

RB cues start at $1700 according to his website. Close to $1400 more than I want to spend lol

This may sound odd but have you considered buying a butt that you like and having Richard make you a couple of shafts and match them to the butt?

I like my Richard Black cue it has a good feeling and feedback to me. I didn't care for his tips so I changed them out.

I rate it #4 in my collection.

#1 is a Mike Bender
#2 is a Jim Buss
#3 is a Greg Pierce
