Chris,

Could you post some pictures of the ring work? Like close ups.

Thanks,
Tom

I have decided to build some cues with a fancy inlaid joint instead of standard stitch rings.
This looks great and allows the player to add an after market shaft ) Like OB1 or Predator) without having to match up ring work. That will save them money in the long run and i thought it looks cool.
First is a picture of the joint and joint protector.
The second picture shows the top of the joint protector that it matches the points.
The third shows the Diamond in Sterling Silver setting that ties the veneer diamonds together.

I liked digdug cue best, not even close.

The other cue looks like it took a lot of work, the quality looks top notch, but the repeating design reminds me of carpeting, and just not my thing... but obviously there were dozens of folks that liked it and voted for it. Just not for me......

I have to agree. Chris's cue is a the work of a master, just too much going on to appeal to my likes.

What happened to Venison Slayer's cue... was he not entered? It turned out really nice too!

Dig Dug...love the "Adam-esque" old school gambler/tuxedo cue thing he pulls off here. Both are great cues, but if I had to pick one to be seen shooting with, it'd be Dig Dug's cue.

Hey Tom,
We tried to take some better pictures of Doug's cue last night if these look any better and you want to replace some of the ones you have at the beginning of the thread.
Thanks!

I agree. I think Brent's cue should have been included. He chose not to put the planned inlays in it as someone bought it like it is. So I guess Tom thought it too plain to compete with the other cues, but we see from this vote that many think that less going on is better. Brent may have won it had it been included in the vote.

I liked Brent's cue a lot and was wondering about his. All three were appealing to me on different levels.

It just seems like a few jabs towards Doug and his cue. Doug put a lot of time in that cue for this contest,no matter who entered. He has tons of hours and over 350 inlays in it. I don't consider this cue to "have less going on". Brent may have won or maybe he wouldn't? I would have loved to see everyone's cue in the contest.

Not making a jab at anyone. I was quoting what others said about our cues. Doug built a great cue. Read everyone's post in this thread and you will see others said it, not me.

WHOA the cue was not finished. I had no idea he sold it without inlays, I knew it was sold.

Yeah, he sold it to someone who saw it like it was and quickly put a finish on it to get it presentable for the contest. I thought his simple design with awesome ring work really looked nice. So did the guy who bought it. :)

Chris, with zero disrespect to you or Brent you must be aware of things I am not. The pictures sent on the Ask the Cuemaker thread were asked to be posted even if it was with just cue sealer on it.

The Cue did look like very nice work but if you look at the picture the way I did I saw a finish type material on the lathe bed in beads.

Brent apoligised, due to late start and some problems (which happen) that it was not finished.

If it was otherwise, you or Brent could have contacted me and I would have been more than happy to put him in.

I tried my best to sponsor a great contest and to make it fair.

If it did not come out that way Brent can contact me and we can do a new Poll Thread with him included, best I got.

Wow...Both cues are stunning, I have to say Chris's cue. Only because imo. the ringwork looks killer. Digs cue is totally killer as well. Chris gets my vote, I flipped a coin. Just kidding..... Both cues should go up for cue of the year....

Chris:wink:

cue challenge
