custom cue's

I have a custom (now a collectable) and never enjoyed playing with it. Also have plenty of commercial cues I do not enjoy.

Has anyone ever spent good money on a custom cue and it sucked?

LOL, just reading this statement is funny. I have never had a cue built that I didnt like but I have hit some balls with some custom cues that were far from exceptable imo. Its all individual taste really.

I had that experience. I don't remember the cue brand or maker, other than it had an ebony butt with curvy, snake-looking-design mother of pearl inlays. The Irish linen wrap was lumpy and the finish was badly orange-peeled. What I do remember was that it cost $600.00 (this was in the early 1980's) and I sent it to three different "master cue craftsmen" before obtaining an acceptable finish. I never liked the way that cue hit (I can still hear the "tink" that it made). It sat in my closet for 15 years, long enough for the shaft to warp. I sold that cue with and its ebony-with-curvy-inlay. The new owner was enamored over the MOP inlay and didn't care that the shaft was bent (birds of a feather?). Good riddance.
