Custom Paperworks for shipping ivory Cue???

This very subject is one of the main reasons that the Japanese market has virtually dried up for higher end custom cues. Their gov't has become much more adept at spotting and confiscating cues that contain ivory. As a result, the buyers are not willing to take such risks having cues shipped. Big cues with ivory inlays being shipped to Japan.........man, you are really rolling the dice nowadays !!

The market for higher end cues has not dried up over here. Whoever told you that is mistaken.

About the time of the SBE there was a discussion of Ivory, and Japan, and i believe it was mention the famous, or infamous Japanese cue Dealer ?Lucky? removed all mention of Ivory from his web-site, as the government was cracking down on personal Ivory procession.

Again, another rumor started in the US that is completely false. You can go to Lucky's page right now and it has all of his cues listed and what is contained in them. www.ilovecues.com

I was just going to say to the original poster that if they have any concerns about this, which I don't think they should, that they could contact Lucky and ask him what needs to be done. If anyone would know he would.

I'm pretty sure he speaks English

Hi, mully,

I'm not sure if the rumours is completely false. for example, go to Lucky's BlackBoar, Schrager, Schick pages. you won't find any item listed there.

last autumn when a couple of cue makers/dealers were arrested for importing ivory illegaly or selling cues which contained those illegaly imported ivory, most of cue dealers noticed that they hadn't been registered as legal domestic ivory dealers and i noticed that some cue dealer changed the term ivory to animal horn or deleted them on their www shops.

now almost all major dealers have registered and they have resumed trading cues with ivory, but they still lack the legal CITES papers which prove the cues only use pre-ban ivory, so, strictly speaking, trading those cues domestically in japan is still illegal imho.

by the way, after the ivory fuss, many individual cue collectors in japan suspended buying highend custom cues i guess, so japanese market is kind of dried up at the present.

Shipping problems!

This is what i would have done in your situation!
Take a crap cue and ship it insured for the amount you like and then get your seller switch the cue and send return post with a note that it was a refinish job done for 90 US.

If the cue was your?s from the start how can they take it from you?

Good luck to you sir!
