This may be my last post ever on here so here goes. The world is odd. I see many things in the pool world changing at a rapid rate. The days of hitting the table , practicing,getting into ring games with a slight hint you may loose all your cash days are well over.
If it ain't a lock down bet, it just isn't gonna happen now a days. I grew up playing since I was 7. Watching the older guys gamble , play for hours upon hours not just for the money, but for the respect and pride of being the best.
Thats what drove me into cue repair. Pride,time spent with gods on a table. Wanting to be like them. Not thinking a tape, a video, or the next gimmick would make me the best, but actual time on the table.
Just in the last 5 years alone, the pool world has been in a downward spiral as a whole. I spent well over 3/4 of my life dedicated to playing, repairing, and supporting this fine game out of respect and love for the game.
Most of you know I am ill and am down. Unable to do much, and unable to continue making cues as I loved to do for so many years. But I am coming to terms with most of that. But there are some things that just gripe my butt when it comes to forums and people.
I seen several cue maker's go thru hell on here. Taking a flame of insults and being talked down to in general. Now some are not perfect, as I am one of those, but most of the bad talk, finger pointing, and insults I see are coming from internet educate3d people that have no clue how things work in the real world.
Not the next day,fast food, mini mart world we live in now. But the real world. Where people matter. I have seen you rip makers all to pieces for doing all they can. Got news for ya guys, there are a lot of buyers out there that suck to! Make us wait on payments, have more excuses than any cue maker ever has on why they can't pay us. Change their minds daily and drive us nuts and expect perfect customer service. And the one I like, that expect us to email,take pics, and kiss their ass all day long like they are our gods and we owe them 100% of every minute of every day.
And for every customer like this , I can honestly say, I have had so many good ones. But as of late, the BUYERS MARKET so to speak where cue buyers think they can rape the cue maker by low balling and flipping his cues and he should be happy and lucky you are even buying his cues are feeling the wrath of having to be lucky to break even. And I won't lie, it's funny and you deserve it.
The cue maker's that have shed there swet and labor to make you the best cue they can just to feed their family , hats off to all you maker's, I have been there and now why you do what you do.
To the guys that have used cue maker's like this, u deserve to lose every dime of profit. That in my mind is the worst form of disrespect I can imagine.
And to the few folks I owe and feel they have to be all big and important and write little comments about me like I am a liar, a thief, and so on blah blah blah, screw off fella's! And I say that right at ya. I have built for over 25 years, and not til now am I unable to do what I do due to health. So piss off with all your comments. I have done as much as I could for pool as a player and supporter, a repair man, and a cue maker for years. With not 1 damn hick up. You sure ain't going to ruin my rep with a few childish comments, not to mention what are you gonna ruin anyway, I am done building fella's! My health and doc's say I am out of the game.
I owe some cues, yup, I do. Name many makers that don't. Even big names got behind once or twice huh guys. But, I feel bad for all the guys putting your talents to waste and letting jerks tell you how and when to run your business.
I read sometime ago that it was sad that a guy can buy a lathe, a few tips and call him self a cue maker. I ask the people who believe that, ever try to make one? You may be surprised on what all in takes to make one the right way.
So you go on and let price dictate what you buy, and slowly watch the cue maker's of old and new with talent go away as you run them off by your actions. And to those maker's who fight for your business everyday and make less and less money, hat's off to ya fella's, it's people like you that got the pool world buzzing to begin with, you are the icons!!!
