I have an inexpensive jump/break cue (Gino Ferrari), when I break, there is about 4 inches of butt sleeve after my hand thats just useless and adds to the weight. I was wondering how much weight would I chop off the cue if I cut it down 4 inches. That section is hallow from the bumper to about 6 inches deep and 3/4 inches wide. Dont know the type of wood, hope the photos help

Any other issues ?

I am just totally blown away by that shaft.
It has some high ring-count alright but just below the ferrule, they all take a left. And this is a break cue you say...?
Not knocking your cue, it's just you don't see that everyday.

Oh, you may lose 1oz, maybe 1-1/2 making a cut but that's with leaving the bumper off also.

so the ring count is a good thing or bad? hehe im just curious:grin:

Sorry thats not my cue. I just got the photo from the web  But yes the shaft has a relatively high ring count and its darn stiff !!!.

What weight is your Gino?
I used to sell these JBs. I know they are hollow but they do have a weight bolt in them. If you have a small flash light, look down the bore. You'll most likely see an allen head way down deep.

I can't see them not having a bolt, all the ones I've owned did. I know because they didn't didn't install the bolt very tight at the factory and the first thing I would do is tighten them before they went out the door.

Not sure of the weight, I guess 19 oz. Thanks for the tip on the weight bolt, will check later if mine has one, if it has, will try to remove it to reduce weight.
