Cyclop balls burn spots in cloth?

In my experience, yes.
Burn marks are caused by the cue ball, not the object balls. My guess is that the severity of burn marks in the cloth are more a factor of the kind of cloth on the table rather than the brand of balls being used, although maybe it's possible that keeping a CB clean and polished might potentially reduce burn marks. Of course, the biggest factor causing or limiting the severity of burn marks is how elevated the cue is kept throughout the impact and follow through in the stroke - particularly on a harder paced stroke such as the break.
Take a look at some tournament videos from Griffs (US Open 8 and 10 ball) and see how the tables look. I am 95% sure that they use Cyclop sets there, although the cloth may be pretty new in their videos. The Simonis HR cloth was made to minimize those lines and spots.
