A friend of mine is colour blind. He plays only snooker and occationally it causes problems, especially with the brown and red balls. My father was colour blind but he didn't play cue sports. It caused some problems in his day to to day life though.
I feel for the people that have colour blindness, but in fairness I think ball sets should be coloured in a way that is easily distinguishable on the screen and the colour blind would allready be used to watching the numbers. I think the original Aramith tv set does a very good job in that regard. The traditional colours were problematic and on low res tv's you couldn't even tell the difference between the 2, 4, 7 or 8. It was a major issue. Of course tvs and monitors got a lot better, but then there is the Asian market where a number of people use their phones for viewings, and we're back in problem territory with the old colours.
I'm a traditionalist when it comes to colour for playing pool in the pool halls. I like the old stuff, Brunswick tables, green cloth, centennial balls, but I can certainly understand the people who have to take into consideration viewers watching on tiny screens. Personally, if it was up to me, we'd still used GCs with green cloth and centennial balls. It's such a beautiful combination.
