How much to do a total resto on a McDermott D-19? I am looking into one that needs it all, joint collar, butt cap, refinish, wrap, and two shafts made. I would also like to have the BEM stained gray. Shafts would be standard pro taper and 13mm. I would like this cue to look original. I would like a few quotes to see if it is even worth the effort from a cost stand point.

Stains work by seeping into the pores of the wood. Once a a clearcoat finish has been put over the wood, the pores of the wood are cloged. Even when the finish is removed you will get a very uneven saturation, from the stain. I have tryed it before & it didn't work...JER

I'm not interested in doing the work on your D19, but I do have one with the grey stain for sale. The only difference is the two shafts are about 12 1/2mm not 13. I'll let it go for $500 shipped.

That's not a bad price.
 
I would suggest contacting McDermott about the restoration.

If they do it, then the cue remains a "pure" McDermott - Not a "McDermott D-19 restored by insert name of cuemaker here" It will retain a higher value.

Plus they would be able to put on a buttcap with the McDermott logo.
