In my experience, a good player for the money
I bought a DP for $200 on Ebay about a year ago, just out of curiosity. It's not perfect; there is a slight but noticeable difference in the hues of the purpleheart in the forearm and the butt sleeve. The workmanship otherwise was impressive -- nice finish, inlays, ringwork. The cue is well-balanced and hits fine. The shaft came standard with a stiff taper, which might not appeal to everyone.
The cue is well worth the price as a player. I didn't buy it as an investment, and can't imagine that anyone who pays attention to the cue market these days would think that DP cues will ever be a hot commodity. Ironically, it would probably be worth more money if it didn't have DP's name on it. Sad, isn't it?
