how do you rate dp cues in relation to other cuemakers like joss west,southwest... how is the playability ...

Affordable, high-quality, nice playing cue. Professional folks, nice to work with... Good choice.

Actually i have tried to contact dale and email him but he never seemes to call back or email back. I gave up and went with another maker

I've had the opposite experience. Perhaps there were extenuating circumstances? Dale is one of the best I've met in the business so far. His cues are beautiful, too :-)

I've had a couple of DP's. I've always has exceptional service from Dale. All you have to do is pick up the phone and call him. He likes doing business that way.

I would break his cues into two categories: 1.His every day simple cues (sneaky pete's, speedsters) and 2. his customs.

His customs are pretty consistent. Relatively stiff with a strong shaft taper and slightly forward balanced. They are on the thin side through the handle and butt area. His work is clean. it looks like he switched over to the radial pin - a good thing. I think it's a better joint than the uniloc quick release.

His SP's can be really uneven but he sells these cheap - what do you want.

Josswest and Southwest are two of the best and most expensive names out there, so that would be a tough comparison.

I think Dale's values and image have been hurt a little in
the eyes of the collectors and dealers because he is basically selling direct to the public at wholesale levels.

Good for the pool shooting customer, bad for the collectors, investors, and dealers. So, there is a contingent who will say negative things which reflect more on his marketing than his cues.

I contacted Dale about two years ago to order a cue.

In my email, I told Dale that I wanted a flat-faced sneaky pete with a 3/8-10 pin. He said that the Unilock joint (piloted) was the only type of joint he would ever use because it (piloted joint) was far superior to anything else on the market. He went on to say that flat faced cues were inferior to his (piloted) cues and that if I wanted a flat faced cue it would cost me an extra $500.

Based on his response, I decided to use another custom cuemaker. I know that most "custom" cuemakers that I deal with are more open to "customizing" their product which is in my mind an import trait for a "custom" cuemaker.

That was two years ago, and now I've heard he's making flat faced cues and selling them on Ebay. If I was looking for a good value in a "custom" cue, I would probably look elsewhere.

Sincerely,
Greg Matthews.

I cant say enough about his cues. I have some top players hit my my DP and they were shocked on how stiff and solid they were. Add the DP-R shaft to it, and look out. Not to make a shamless plug, but I do have a Dp wrapless cue with an extra shaft (THE DP-R) for sale at a great buy.

I have dealt with Dale Perry for over ten years and he has always taken care of me and my customers. Dale's cues have a distinct hit and he takes a lot of care to build a solid cue.

I have 3 DP's. Bought them off eBay cause they were a bargain. Recently used one for the first time when my Burton Spain was off for refinish. Quite impressed with the hit and feel but must admit butt is a tad small in diameter for me to be totally comfortable. My stepson started shooting with it and loves it. Just ordered a 30" shaft with a 17" taper for him to use with it.
