A little report from my on the road reporter:
The Dalton Bourg Memorial is fixing to kick off in Houma Louisiana. Plenty of food, looks like a buffet. It would be worth the $20 entry just for the groceries! A smallish field of fifty players with things tight in the oil patch at the moment, but the usual crazy cajun calcutta going. The owner of CueSports in Thibodaux, Nick Arcement, bid $500 on himself and I think got himself for $550. When the bidding stalled at $150 on our own JoeyA he was so insulted that he bought himself!
This is the thirteenth year of the tournament and with only a race to five on the winners side and three on the losers the battles are going to be fast and furious much like the quarterhorse races favored in south Louisiana. As the like to say down here, it is anybody's game. A bit late to enter this one but still plenty of time to brought yourself on down and pass a good time! Sure to be plenty of action on the side too.
Next month it is back to Lafayette and the real craziness, $20,000, $30,000 or more calcutta! The people in south Louisiana don't mind betting it up on most anything. Easy pickings and the window is always open.
