Danny D., A plea for help!

BEEN THERE, DONE THAT!
Silver Member
I just got off the phone with my dear friend Danny DiLiberto. As many of you may know, Danny lives in Hallendale Florida. His home was damaged by the recent hurricane and has been without power for a couple of days now. He told me that they are predicting his power will be restored aprox Nov 21. Danny has a wife and young daughter who he struggles to provide for. He's now in a crisis situation. He needs money to get his family out of Florida and settled elsewhere. He's not asking for charity, but he needs a loan. He promised to pay back with interest, after the Derby City Classic. I'm helping all I can right now, but I'll also offer to guarantee any loans made to him with cues in excess of the money loaned. Danny is an honorable man who's given his life to the sport we all love. He's in a time of need right now and I'd like to see some help from the billiards community. I know that there are lots of people in a bad situation now, but Danny is one of our own and he needs our help!

Unfortunately, time is of the essence! He needs to get out of there right away, tomorrow, if possible! Please look into your hearts and help our friend however you can! For the time being, his phone is working. He can be reached at (954)458-4032. You can reach me at (513)509-9152 if you need any more info.

I also have a couple of cues I've taken in trade that If I could sell them here, I'd have the buyer send the money directly to Danny. The cues are a Nubs Wagner, Nova cue and a Southeast. I put a notice in the for sale section a while back with some pics, I'll try to dig it up and make it current if anyone wants to look at the cues.

Thanks in advance folks! Please help if you can!

no hot air here!

I received a couple of PM's from people wanting to help out with a small donation for Danny. It was suggested that a paypal account be set up for this. If anyone wants to make a donation to help Danny's family they can send it to my paypal account and I'll see that he receives it quickly. Mine is

Thanks again for anything that you can do to help!

How much does he need?

I think he figures he'll need about $1600 to get out of town. You can call him personally and he'll explain the mess! He's really concerned for his family. I guess there's already looting and violence starting and he thinks it'll get a lot worse before it gets better!

Arf, Arf! You ain't sendin no 'loan' without calling, so why not call?
Sorry to have offended, but why ask for a $# to be put up, only to be dissected & debated, when you can figeur it out for yourself, as requested, with the man who needs the $??

I just want to take a minute to thank all of those who sent contributions to aid Danny in his time of crisis! He's certainly not out of the woods and could still use some help, but the contributions were, in his own words, a life saver! He's still one of those without power, after over 2 weeks. His dog died during the ordeal as well. When it rains, it pours! I talk to hime every couple of days and he's in good spirits considering the problems he's dealing with! He is certainly grateful for the contributions and the prayers! God Bless!

I spoke to Danny late last night and he finally had some good news. Looks like they got his power on yesterday, finally! He also received a gig that will give him enough money to get by for the immediate future. He's anxious for the Derby City Classic time, where he works doing commentary for Accu-Stats and that also helps his cash flow situation. He told me last night that he has no idea how his family would have gotten through this recent crisis without the help of his friends that came through for him when he really needed it! He hopes to be able to thank them personally at the DCC and the future IPT events. He told me he's been in some tight spots in his life but this time he felt most helpless. Unless you've been through a natural disaster like this and seen how it affects the victims, it's difficult to fathom how overwhelming it can be! You don't realize how much you depend on such things as electricity, gasoline, running water etc., until you've been without them for a while. And to have no money or way of earning any, and a hungry family puts people in desperation. Danny held up well under the circumstances, he's always been a fighter, but I could hear the desperation in his voice when I spoke to him and was relieved to talk to him last night and hear him in a more normal mindset! I would also like to thank, from the bottom of my heart, all of those of you here who helped out! God Bless You!
