Danny Medina robbed in Vegas.

Vegas

I lived in Vegas from '72 >'92...during those years the MOB operated in the area (up to about the early 80's) and the local Sheriff, Ralph Lamb, made sure that the tourists never had a problem in the downtown area.
There were very few robberies, mainly because all the "punks" knew that if they messed with someone...it could be a friend or relative of the Mob. It was very safe to walk around ALL of the time. There were many pool tourneys thru out those years...Stardust, Caesars, Tropicana, MGM, etc. with almost no problems of any note. We used to "carry money" in those days.
When the corporations came in, the "civilised" people came with them and now there is not much general safety for us to just walk around. Now we need AtM cards just to feel halfway safe. It is just like other towns now with all their problems...Except they have those great big gambling halls and showrooms!!!

Years ago i remember Buddy Hall sitting around telling us stories, and he told us that Tommy kennedy was mugged outside a pool hall they were at
and they only got $35 bucks off him. Buddy laughed and said "I was so broke, if they woulda robbed me, all they woulda got was practice".:)

All joking aside, it is a shame Danny was hurt like that. I never met him but i always liked him. He did a "How to Hustle" video back in the late 80's
with Pretty Boy Floyd Mataya. I still have it, every now & then when i have folks over we put it in the vcr for a good laugh.:D

Cuetopia is closed, has been for over 2 years.

I would play there from time to time when I lived in Vegas....you could tell it wasn't doing well....
