Darren Appleton performance

that being said he is not playing well at least to his and others standards. with this came his constant moaning about being sharked, the break rules, magic rack, size of table need for refs etc whenver he loses he has an excuse, it turned me off him bad.

especially when he played in the one pocket fight night couple years ago and got cained then said he hadnt played one pocket for 6 months and wasnt prepared??thanks douche as i bet on you.

You tell it like it is.

Interesting to see how he does in the upcoming MC. To me, he played the weakest of the Europeans during last year's MC. Doesn't mean he played terrible but if I was to rank the team's play 1 through 5, he would have been 5th. This year, to me, he didn't deserve to be on the team as Mika and definitely Alcaide had far superior years but that is why there are captain picks. The captain must have felt his experience and playing as a team member out weighed some others current level of play. And Appleton always handles himself as a professional which gives him a lot of points right there.

Perfect analysis on last year's MC. The only reason behind Darren's invitation to the MC this year is the fact he's British and Matchroom wants to sell tickets. Alcaide or Immonen cannot do that. Grey alone is not enough. There always has to be 2 British players at least. Meh...

There are now 3 players from Great Britain on the team, Shaw is from Scotland which is part of Great Britain.
Last pick should have been Alcaide or one of the Germans.

... There always has to be 2 British players at least. ...

Team Europe has included at least 2 players from England (and, therefore, Great Britain) in 15 of the 23 years of the event (including this year). But for 8 consecutive years (2002-2009), only 1 player on Team Europe was from Great Britain (and he was from England).

Tack on the incredible expenses along with your thoughts below, that go with playing in tournaments all over the world and that'll help increase the pain in the neck.

I don't know what if any thing could be slowing him down. By his own admission, which I admire him for, he has struggled in the past with personal issues that effected his game. At least he is man enough to admit it.

I bet if he was practicing 8 hours a day for 5 days a week he would be as good as any one. Pro pool playing is a job, every job requires your time if you want to be in top form.

I don't envy any pro pool players, as it appears to be a very hard way to make a living. Try raising a family, buying and supporting a home, buying health insurance, vehicles and saving for retirement on a pro pool players income.

They have no guarantees of income and the competition is tough! If your prone to being on the emotional side imagine the stress. Crap, I would hate it.

If he can find another way to make more money I say do it. He is a great player and I really like watching him play. I am sure he will be in the winners circle again.

As far as marriage goes. I wish him and his wife the best. When you get it right it is great and it darn sure beats growing old alone surrounded by a bunch of personal belongings some one will sell when your gone. I have been married 43 years and life is very good!
