Dart Board Location

Is there a general rule of thumb for how far the dart board should be from the pool table? I am getting my pool room (more of an area than a room) all setup in my detached garage and I am trying to decide where to put the dart board. I was thinking of putting it on the wall at the foot of the table, but off to the side so you stand near the corner/side pocket when throwing darts, but then I got worried about stray dart that bounces off the metal rings coming back onto the table and damaging the felt. The rest of the building is my workshop so I can’t dedicate much more space to the game area. So what is the closest to safely put a dart board to a pool table?

Thanks

I have no idea. In my pool room space is very limited and my dart board which I never play is close to the table. You either play darts or pool; which equates to never play darts for me.

I would guess if you have the space, put it past 5 feet from the table. That should allow both games to go at once if you have a few people over. I believe 5 ft is the general rule for at LEAST how far you should place anything around the table to allow for adequate shooting room.

I would recommend the garbage can. Play more pool, leave darts alone. :D:p

back when i was a traveling player looking for games i hated when i seen a club with alot of cars in the parking lot. then when i got inside the pool tables had buffet food on them and everyone was throwing darts. geeeesh it made me hate the dart bars.:(

That is a good suggestion, however when my friends and I get tired of sucking at pool, then we can suck at darts for a while.

This is a good idea, I do have the pool table at least 5' from the walls, when my dad had it there was never room to shoot, it was very annoying. But it would be nice to throw darts while waiting for the next game.

here is my room.

Bronc, at least 5 feet. Even with a light toss a bounce-out can travel 5 feet or more. The more distance you can get the better. I've had bounce outs travel 9 feet and then some. The other thing you may try is an electronic board with soft tip darts. They bounce out a little more and you need a good board. Arachnid is the good stuff. A regulation sized board is the ticket. Cheapest ones are around 150$. But the damage to your table should be nill. Lots of good darts for less than steel tips. Besides there is playing against the computer and electronic hecklers than can be fun. Especially with friends and a few brewskies.
