Jenn,... I consider all my pets, my kids. I lost one to cancer last fall, her name was Dakota. It was such a painful experience.

I'm so sorry for your loss. My thoughts are with ya!!!

So sorry Jenn

I know it's tough to lose a pet...I had an Eskimo Spitz for some 13 years, her name was FuFu and she was my baby. Loved her dearly. Here is a pic of just two of my pets now...I have 8!

The dog's name is Todd, he is a Terrier mix but I swear he has a PhD! This dog is simply brilliant and smart.

The other pet is my ferret Fivel. I call him the weasel all the time...so much fun and so very playful. He is a fat ferret though, and they say that's rare for a ferret. I figure a fat midget can have a fat ferret eh?

Hope you enjoy the pictures and just enjoy the fond memories of you and Darth.

Billy Jay is gone. Thank you Mike Howerton for deleting my post in response.I understand why.

Jenn, you have my sympathies on the loss of your pet Darth. I know how pets can become a regular member of the family. :(

My condolences on the loss of Darth. He was absolutely adorable. Pets are family members who love us unconditionally.

In prayer,
Marissa

I know what it's like to lose a pet after such a long and wonderful time together. I still keep my dog's tag's on my keys... kinda sappy, but it was really like losing a brother.

Sorry to hear about your loss Jenn, I recently lost a dog of mine and it was very tough also. Keep your chin up.

Hey Jenn. I know how you feel, the best part is the fond memories of the beloved companion. I'm sorry to hear about your loss.

Our doggy called Pepi, a poodle, had to put to sleep after christmas. He was an active and happy little boy all the way until his last journey to the vet, though the 17 and a half years of joy of living had slowly left him deaf and almost blind but he was always eager to fetch the ball, all the way to his last days. Hoping to play some catch with him some day...

Thanks, everyone. I always thought it would be easier because he lived such a long happy life, but every time I come home from practice the house feels so empty. It's amazing how a big ball of fur can occupy such a large part of your heart. :-(

Jenn,

I only met Darth once, but I know what it's like to lose a pet. I have lost 3 dogs, golden retriever's, all to some sort of cancer. And like you and other animal lovers, our dogs were part of our family. Please accept my condolences.

Can it be said that great pool players are also dog lovers?

In his hay day, anyone who knows him will remember Jimmy Fusco constantly going home to his dogs. Even if in the middle of a high stakes match, if it was time to feed or walk the dogs, Jimmy would politely excuse himself, run home, take care of the dogs and come back.

My condolences go out to you Jenn.

I have lost 8 pets in my life, and i bawled my brains out for each and every one of them. It is definitley tough to deal with the void that is left when a pet leaves us. Not only in ones heart, but physically as well. It is a very lonley time.
I think the hardest part for me each time, was that after a solid period of mourning, when i had pretty much recovered, i still had this love and affection to give out, but no pet to lavish it on. I felt almost guilty that my pet would be looking down on me, and i would be hurting his/her feelings if i were to give that affection to another animal.
I think each time, i said to myself, that i was never going to get another animal cause i didn't want to feel that way again.

But invariably, i'd see a pet in some pet store, or know someone who's pet just had a litter, go to visit, and then have my heart break as some cute little superfluff would look at me, and i'd go all to pieces. Just such a softy when it comes to animals.

So if he had a good life, you take pride in knowing that you gave him love and affection that was unequalled, and that if they could speak and thank you, they most definitely would.
So with a name like Darth. (and you know he's strong with the force), you have to imagine it's like the end of Return of the Jedi, where Obi Wan, Yoda, and Darth aren't really dead, but are still there in spirit.

So know that when your at some tournament, plugging away, or at home watching tv, or whatever, that he's watching over you wagging his tail, hoping that your happy.

The hurt gets easier with time.

Hey Jennifer,

Sorry to hear about this loss. I've been there and have another one now battling kidney disease that I'm a little achy over, but I have to tell you, the pain does lessen with each passing day.

Don't hold your love in, share it with a new buddy.

Long time, no see. You're doing great, keep it up!

Take care,

Barbara

Thanks, Barbara. We're actually working on adopting a dog from a local shelter. There are so many dogs here in NY that need homes!

I've lost a couple of 4-legged family members over the years as well. Each one's passing always hurts, but I've also learned that each new pet has their own distinct, loving personality which fills in the void their predecessors leave behind.
