I'm sure a lot of people have heard of Dave Faver, a true pool player his entire life. He passed away a month ago, and our very own Melinda Bailey (akatrigger) interviewed him for the latest issue of Billiards Buzz. A great article that honored one of his last wishes, for the interview to be published after his death.

Anyone else have stories about Dave Faver? I only got to talk to Dave a few times but he always had good stories and great advice about pool and life.

Man I have been off the scene for a few months so I didn't know Dave passed. I'm sorry to hear that I like that guy!!

A big thank you to Trigger for writing such a fine article. Thank you for making us aware of it.
I played Dave a little 1pkt(with some weight😉) about 7 years ago while I lived in the dfw. I got lucky and won I told him forget about the money and took him to eat. He was very gracious.
I never heard him talk bad about anyone and never heard him woofing, badgering anyone to play.

Sorry

I never met Dave but when Pool story's come up in Northeast Ohio you can bet Faves name will be in there. One of Ohio's top players in the 80's.

My condolences to his family.

It really saddens me to hear this about Dave. I ran a pool room for 24 years and during this time he came through town a few times. I played him cheap 9 ball and One Pocket when he came through. I took no spot, knowing that I had no chance. I was doing it to learn, just as he says was his approach to getting better at the game. At the end of our matches he would take the time to tell me what he thought my weak areas were and where I needed to improve. He helped make me a better player. Always was a gentleman in my room.

He made an impression on me, just as is shown by Malinda's great article on him. I know he's getting some good rolls now.......RIP Dave.
