Hey, I know its kind of a fluke but he's one of the guys I grew up following. Gotta like to older guys showing up to play some.

I think and old guy was going to win no matter what ;)

Great for Davenport. Imagine beating Efren in your career come back. beating him is surely a highlight for any pool player. I'd lose sleep, for years, laying awake at nights reminiscing about the match.
 
you are right, it must be an unbelievable feeling to beat the "world's best". Now he must continue to focus on the balance of his matches.
 
I believe Kimmer has plenty of game to go deep. I don't consider him beating Efren a fluke. Perhaps a mild upset, but certainly no fluke.

I agree.Anyone in the top 100 has enough game to get hot and beat anyone else.It just that the weaker players have flashes of brilliance, while the top players have sustained/consistent brilliance.

My friend said that Kim broke and ran about half of the racks, and Efren's break wasn't working, so when he broke dry, Kim ran out.

Kim isn't scared of Efren, they are old rivals, and Kim beat him a bunch of times. However, if Efren gets his break working, the only way to beat him is to keep him in his chair.

I guess that explains it. It doesn't seem like Reyes is playing all that badly, since he just beat Samuel Jones 8-3 with 6 BNRs.

As long as Efren doesn't get unlucky with his break, he will go far this tournament.
 
I'm telling you, as we see more and more of these tournaments, you are going to see more and more break and runs. 8-ball at the pro level is a runout festival. Players break dry and sit in their chair the rest of the match. At least in rotation games, they don't always have a shot after they make a ball. In 8-ball if you pocket a ball on the break, my guess is you have at least one open shot 98% of the time.

We would lose sleep. Kim won't, he has been there before!
