David Howard

I think David gets over looked as one of the upper class players. He was a monster on the break......and could get out as good as anybody.
In Tallahasse my dad got David in a calcutta.......My dad and another guy had half........and oddly enough David said he didn't want to buy his half! So my dad and this other guy had all off it.
Anyway.......David was unhappy about the table conditions, and was alittle off. Eventually he lost his first match. He was HOT! But after that loss he changed his break around and then he rolled off a few wins..........until next thing ya know he is the winner of the losers side! I think he got second..........but it was a site to see! He got in a groove and was making 2-3 balls every break and stopping the cue ball dead center! He was running over everybody. Beatin guys 9-1, 9-2!
I just remember when I was younger David was one of the top dudes!
Was it just me?

No it isn't just you. I've seen David play and was very impressed with him.

David has the fastest break in recorded history 34 mph. when he was in his prime you needed ear plugs when he broke the balls.

I saw him make 5 balls on the break a few years ago on the Florida tour, only to end up hooked!

I used to make 5 balls on the break 5 times every day. 90% of the time when I did I lost the game because I ended up hooked or with no shot. Finally I began to wise up and realized all I had to do to win was make one ball on the snap and get a shot at the one ball. Control of the cue ball and getting a shot at the one and controlling where it rolls is the secret to the break. Then the break can repeat. The master blaster is a thing of luck, you dont have a clue where anything ends up.

What I do today is when I am on and the table is breaking well I usually make two on the snap and get a nice spread. That is all I want to achieve now, one or two, no more. I do the same at 8 ball, 2 on the snap, almost every snap. It's the spread of the balls which is the key, spread them well and anyone can get out. :D

Larry,

What about those people that "can't run three friggin' balls?" LMAO!!! I'm laughing with you not at you!

Well Jimmy, he didn't say what kind of table he was breaking on. Besides, I'll never call someone a liar unless I have solid evidence. I've seen some pretty amazing things and some even more amazing people in the pool world, haven't you?

5 balls

Yeah Jimmy that's what I was thinking too! LMAO And the rest of the time the 9 went on the break. LOL.

Rick, (Happy New Year)

At work today huh?

1st of the Month One Pocket tomorrow at Hard Times in Sactown.
Sunday is the 9 Ball 1st of the month.

Maybe you'll come and visit.

I would be willing to give odds that no one can pocket 5 balls on the break on the tournament tables... ;)

As far as calling someone a liar, I agree with your statement.

Happy New Year to you Tom! I'd like to play tomorrow but my wife has plans for me! She's trying to get me to take her to see a play or something. The thing she wanted me to take her to was cancelled but that's not going to stop her. She's got plans and I'm part of them, you know what I mean? One way or the other, I'm busy! I'd sure like to play in that tournament though. You know how I like a good 1h game!

That was a great pic you posted in another thread with the beautiful girl leaning on a table! Is she someone you know or just a pic you found? Probably one of your Hardtime regulars! You get some of the nicest looking women in that place! Must be tough on you having to run the tournaments there! Poor guy! Now that I think about it though, you always seem to be smiling! LMAO!! Have a good '04 buddy, and if I'm really lucky, maybe I will see you there tomorrow!!

Oh, and btw, I'm not at work today. I'm home today kickin' back trying to recover from NYE!! They say Manudo works, what do you think?

During the 2002 and 2003 US Open in Virginia Beach, VA, the TV finals table had this lovely lady walking around the table after each game with the number of the game being played. Kinda like a Ring Lady in Boxing. Made the Fans Root harder before the next game.. :D

She works full time at Q-Masters Pool halls as a well tipped waitress when she's not walking around the TV table at the US Open.
