Hitch hiking around the country with a friend when I was 15 and found a job for a few months at Santa’s Land in Cherokee NC. Santa’s home for the summer we ran the bumper cars .. fun days!

I watched Matlock play Earl at the BCA in 2005. It was a morning match and Earl had been arguing with the tournament director and barely put any effort into match, which was disappointing because I was there mainly because of him.
I didn't leave disappointed though because Matlock impressed me so much with his pattern.play creating easy run-outs and a cool demeanor while ignoring Earl's sharking. He had the look and mystique of the Marlboro Man and I became a fan like I am of the road warriors like Keith, Jack Cooney, Searcy, James Walden, Danny Basavich to name a few. I heard Walden say he learned starting out watching Matlock play at the Palace in Oklahoma which was quite the place for action. Walden mentioned matching up with Keith there. The Palace must have been quite the place to see action.
