David Rowell is a local cuemaker here in the Birmingham area and I was wondering if anyone outside of this area has heard of his cues. I have a friend that has asked me to help him try to sell one that he has had for a few years (it has just been refinished and looks like new). I will be getting it in a couple days and try to take some pictures. David won the US Ametuer Championship in 2000. For now I just wanted to know if anyone knows about his cues and how they compare to other area local cuemakers. Thanks, Larry Hale

I haven't seen any of Mr. Rowell's cues but based on your question, you should never ask to compare one maker to others, The spectrum is just to wide. When you see and hit with the cue, Sell it on it's own merit.

He beat my azz in a 9 ball tourney in Atlanta a couple of years ago...he didn't miss a single ball and kicked in 2 when I hooked him. Super nice guy & I believe he was playing with cues he made...so they are definately capable of playing perfect.:)

You are right. I definitely worded that wrong ;-( I was mostly curious about the pricing on other cues of his. I will try to get some pictures and put them up for you guys. Thanks, Larry

I have known David for many years and he builds a fine cue. But this question should be asked in the main forum where the players post instead of in Ask the Cuemakers section. Or ask in Cue Reviews. You will get more response in those forums.

I just saw Rowell's cues for the 1st time ever over the APA tourney this weekend and all I can say is WOW! He makes some awesome cues IMO!

Some of his cues I saw kinda reminded me of Mottey's and he was a very nice guy and let me grab a few of his cues and hold them, etc. I was very impressed by his workmanship but didnt get to hit with any. He gives lessons, but not sure if thats for cuemaking or for playing. I wouldnt mind learning how to make a cue.

But if his cues hit like they look, then they are top notch in my book. Here is his number if anyone would like to speak with him (this was on his card so I'm not giving out any personal info).

David's cue do hit very well. I have two of them and will have them out for sale this weekend for the 8-ball tourney. I am setup to the right when you come in to the building. I will let you try one out if you like.
