Thanks sjm ! Great job. Finland is nicely in top 10 :D

Immonen's fine showing was very much expected, but Lohtander has surprised me a little. He's now 3 - 3 and with a win over Stepanov in his final match, he'd be near certain to reach the knockout stage of the event.

I don't want to spoil this...but ...if you do not take the numbers of players per country into account the stats are misleading..don't you agree?

SJM, apparently you don't remember last year when Lohtander won his group with Yang, Alcano etc. world class players. ;)

His success is not a surprise at least for me. Actually, I think he has been underperforming...

You're right, Mikko, I had forgotten! Not so surprising after all. I hope Lohtander gets through.

yay Canada is in 19th place :( I guess that's what happens when you send your 19th best player to the toughest tournament in the world. At least Salvas is playing well and Martel won his last two matches to make the KO stages. Hjorlefson is very young and inexperienced, finished 9th at the US Open, this kid is only gonna get better.

I agree, but I suspect that very few will conclude that Scotland is the next major force in pocket billiards based on what I've published!

How to interpret these numbers I leave in the capable hands of the forum. To me, the most impressive performance is by Chinese Taipei, with an incredible record of 72 - 29 through three days of play. The performance of the Taiwanese contingent seems to confirm the rumors we've heard about the outstnading level of play there.

Thanks cardman ..

Thanks so much for the Scottish website address. It was the first I knew of it.
I follow all things Scottish since it is my ancestry, and I am pulling for
Michael Valentine as much as our Americans.

He sure must be a site there, 6'6" and shooting in a kilt, might be a little
breezy ... lol .... I wonder if the women are lowering their heads when
he drops the chalk ... ROFL
