There seems to be a large group of people on here from the DC/NVA area. Does anyone have a list of cue makers in the area? I know of Mark Bear in fredricksburg and a few other but would like to see just how many there are out there.
Also who in the area is going to SBE?
Scruggs in Baltimore, Philippi somewhere in Maryland, Black Boar in College Park, MD; Parrot Cues by Todd Elkins in Richmond, VA, just to name a few that come to my mind.
Cues like Scruggs and Black Boar have been selling overseas in the Asian-Pacific Islander countries like hot cakes, and the overseas production cues have been selling like hot cakes here in the States.
Todd Elkins is a fantastic cue-maker and is one of my favorites. He follows through when you order from him and will make any accommodations you deem fit. A good guy to do business with.
There will be a whole slew of cue-makers at SBE in Valley Forge. Whatever you want, it will most likely be there. Plus, it's nice to see it up front and close, as opposed to on a website, where you can actually hit with the cue.
Tim Scruggs has always been a permanent fixture on the tournament trail at high-profile events. He suffered a heart ailment several months ago and may be taking it easy these days. The Scruggs name enjoys a sterling reputation in my neck of the woods for the last 30-plus years.
Interestingly, when the brand Predator first came to the forefront, they gave MANY pro players and aspiring pro players a Predator break cue, free of charge, in an effort to allow players to become familiar with the Predator name. Good move on their part as MANY younger players won't leave home without a Predator-something in their cue case, something about the "hit."
Here's a snapshot of the Predator guy (can't remember his name) and Tim Scruggs taken at last year's SBE in Valley Forge!
