DC++ is pool heaven on earth!

O.K sorry for the confusion. On the dc++ pool and billiards menu page , you will see a bunch of icons at the top of the screen. To the right is a icon that looks like a palm pilot with a little check mark on it ,this it is the setting tab.Click.

A new window will open. Then you will see a blue lettering that says Connection settings. Put a dot by passive, this will allow you to share files. Restart the program and go from there. You can share all your files with your "my shared folder" by clicking settings icon, to the left in the new window you will see downloads in a explore style menu. Click , Under the default directories browse C/programfiles/kaaza/mysharedfolder or whatever location it is in I like soul seek try that program it is cool as well. To see your hard drive capacity, Right Click on Start goto explore .Right Click on C/ click properties ,and it will show you how much space you have on your hard drive, Some of the files are very large.
Peace.

Problem is passive people cannot trade with other passive people. It takes at least one person with a active connection. I tried using the hub filter to search for the word "pool" it came up with nothing I tried searching for the word "billiards" nothing. I could log onto the section easy enough with the above address but it is pretty lame that the search wont find the hub, in searching hubs after that I wondered how many cool hubs I could not find searching specific things like that. After a while of trying to download stuff I suddenly was dissconected and got a message that my nick was taken, doubtful since most people wont use my nick, regardless I changed it to many obscure names there is no way anyone else would use and they were all getting the same "nick is taken message" when I tried to reconnect.

I had just about enough hassle, I was at the time sharing over 200kps and getting a wopping 20kps in return downloads which I don't mind as sharing is important too but I was not going to break my neck trying to keep it up and running. Only thing I missed was the Mosconi/fats video, I got about 5 minutes of it and would have liked to get it all. Grady vs Efren in 1 pocket sounds awesome as well.

Oh well, I deleted DC++. I hope maybe all you people with the pool videos might try downloading Emule, it is alot more user friendly and has a global search system that searches "every single server/hub" and finds users from all of them for sources.

Otherwise an IRC channel for pool videos would be even better, far less hassle and it is where the majority of files are moved.

Does anyone know how to download the same file from multiple sources to increase throughput.....Is it possible with this client?

Thanks

Is there any program that supports multiple sources download ? I doubt it...

Multithreaded downloads....check!

yep....
try overnet www.overnet.com
This actually supports multithreaded downloads. In other words...if there are 10 people that have exactly the same file shared, you as a downloader will be able to download from all of them simultaneously.
This happens by breaking the file into multiple segments...so you start segment 1 from person 1, segment 2 from person 2 etc.
With this I've been able to top my bandwidth limit....only have 180kB/sec (2Mbit down ADSL).

Now having said that, this is only a tool.....if there's any pool-content out there....that's a different story...

cheers,
Kimmo

Napster I knew how to work. KazaaLite I figured out. But this DC++ thing is a pain. I have never bought an Accu Stats tape before. I guess I'll try to find their web site.

This isn't as user friendly as kazaa, it's a lot more complicated, but once u get it figured out it's much worth the effort. Took me a day or two to figure it out, it's a lot different than kazaa, but in some ways it's better. If you don't know how to do something just ask here and i'm sure someone can help you figure it out.

I figured out how to work it alright, but all of the problems I had are legit and noone has any solution to them or can discredit them. I am not talking about just pool videos, it is all good if you know the address of that specicif hub, but what if you want to search for some rare movie, you have no idea which hub might have a person with that file and if you wanted to search for a hub dealing in such files you cannot even search for that hub because the hub filter is useless and cannot even filter out the pool and billiard hub.
