thank you dennis for all the information, i was really curious as to what my buddy john schmidt did. i live in wheeling and as u may know or not john ran a pool room here and we became good friends. i used to run the 8 ball tournaments for him. what a class act. i see that you had a lot to do with the challenge by the way your response was written.that being said i thank you again for your time and report.First and Second was $2600 and $1900 shared by Ralf Souquet and Alex Pagulayan.
Third and Fourth was $1100 apiece for John Schmidt and Darren Appleton.
Fifth through eight was $700 apiece for Johnny Archer, Dennis Orcollo, Mika Immonen, and Niels Feijen.
High run of the event: Mika Immonen $1000.
Dailies:
Sunday:
John Schmidt 127
Huidji See 84
Darren Appleton 51
Monday:
Huidji See-105
Darren Appleton-85
Ralf Souquet - 83
Tuesday:
Ralf Souquet - 108
Dennis Orcollo - 73
Mats Schjetne -64
Wednesday:
Mika Immonen- 156
Alex Pagulayan-141
John Schmidt- 110
My numbers might be a little off. I have the sheets at home. The dailies received $300, $200, $100 for first second and third. You can do the math and figure out what each player received if you are so inclined.
We had 46 paid entries this year, up from our last year high of 28. That means we had 552 filmed attempts for high runs by some of the best players around.
Six matches were filmed this year either on Accu-stats tv table or on Inside Pool live streaming. All of these matches were commentated by knowledgeable 14.1 players. This is also up from all other years.
I am sorry we did not get the finals for you, but Alex and Ralf went deep into nine ball and they were worn out. I left the venue Saturday morning when the scheduled 11 a.m. accustats finals was cancelled and we were told there was no telling when the players would become available. Ralf called me about 7 hours later and asked if they had to play or if they could split the prize. Alex was still playing. I told Ralf that I thought the decision had been made that they would be allowed to split the prize. I asked him to verify with Bill. Bill's phone had broken and I was unable to contact him.
The players went through a lot. While I regret not having the finals decided, I still think we got lots of 14.1 action during the week and I was happy that we were able to stream so much and film everything and accommodate all the players who wanted to try. J.R. Calvert, Alvin Nelson and Inside Pool did a great job streaming our event. Marop, Elvicash, Rich93 and other volunteers did a great job.
We hope to do better next year and bring you more straight pool. Thanks for your support and I am sorry I did not get you the finals.
just out of curiosity what were the 1st and 2nd place payouts pre split.
Fantastic, fantastic job to all involved, and especially Mr. Walsh for keeping us all updated.
One thing which really surprised me - the best runs of the qualifying rounds seemed to occur on the fourth day of attempts. Intuitively, you'd expect the opposite as the table tightens up. Dennis or Bill, any thoughts as to why this was?
Thanks again.

Mika posted the 156 on day 4. Up until then the main guys were happy with what they had run. On day 4 John purchased another 12 tries to try to beat Mika, he ran 144 on the 8th attempt, it was late and he had a 9:30 AM nine ball match so he called it quits. Johnny didn't get there until Tuesday and was pretty sick, his 109 also happened on the last day. Orcollo was on the bump with 102 so he tried again and ran 112. Alex was down to his last 4 attempts and the only time he could schedule was late that night, after his first 3 innings he had a high of 29, on his very last attempt at 1:30 AM needing 106 to qualify he ran 141 which bumped out Huidji's 105. The tables seemed to play the same for all week, John ran 188 on Thursday after qualifications were complete and 112 on Saturday just fooling around.
