I'm not going to write any long trip reports, but I wanted to give a quick update of my first day here just so people know what they're missing or what they'll be seeing when they get here.
There are 41 Tournament 9' tables (23 downstairs, and the rest are upstairs)
For action, there are six 9', one 10' (by itself), and a bar table.
There are also two tables for the George Fels and two others for the additional American Rotation Finals which are also being used for the George Fels 14.1
The Main table is a 10' table, but will be swapped out to a 9' table after the Bigfoot 10-ball. That particular table look like it has bigger or easier pockets than last year as a lot of balls have dropped that I know didn't have a prayer last year.
There are more attendees here than last year. There is a ton of pool events at the same time (banks, one hole, George Fels Memorial 14.1, American Rotation Finals, Bigfoot 10-ball)
InsidePool.tv is in the same area as last year, but without the 10' tables. So the 9' tables in that same space look like bar boxes!
Big Truck is in the private room (with a 10' table I believe) where Bobby Belange hung out last year and where the Action Report was in its second or third year at the casino.
And speaking of action, tons.
- Oscar vs Danny Smith - Back Pocket 10-ball
- Billy Thorpe vs John Morra - 11 ball Banks
- Cliff and Richie Rich - One hole, even
So the only funny story is that what I believe was a first timer came walking by and saw all the railbirds trying to get a peak at the action room. He started asking about what was going on in there and I guess he didn't get the responses he was looking for. He walked away sort of muttering, "oh, so there's no big action in there..."
No big action. LOL!!! Note to AZers.. John Mars was sweating (more than likely backing) the 11 ball banks matchup...
Freddie <~~~ oh the fun is back!
