JB is John Brumback and JH is John Hennessee Pinegar
With the winner advancing to the final against Luat and the loser finishing third, JH and JB squared off in a classic match here at DCC.
After winning rack one convincingly, JB seemed in control, but rack two was a killer. Leading the rack 4-3, JB faced this:
Looking for a commanding 2-0 lead in the race to three, JB made the cross corner bank, but scratched as shown, making the rack score 3-3, and leaving JH an easy bank which he made to go up 4-3 in the rack. With the last two balls on the spot, JH went astray with a poor safety and JB tied the rack at 4-4 and had this to win the rack.
JB undercut it, though, leaving JH the shot below, and JH hit it masterfully to win the rack and tie the match at 1-1.
