DCC Bits and Pieces

Wonder what would happen if the pool shooters bought chips from the casino windows and paid off their bets to each other with those.
?

I wonder what would happen if the organizers said to the casino- Either lighten up on our players or we will take this event elsewhere and good luck filling up this shithole in the middle of nowhere in January with a blizzard, ice storm, or sub 20 degree weather guaranteed every year.

Greg kinda said that a couple years ago. Problem is its a law not just casino regs. Its part of the pact the casino has with the state. Players need to keep the money flashing on the down-lo. Gaming commission isn't too concerned with two people betting each other, its the side action that get's them involved. Event has been held here since '09 and you'd think players would have figured out all this by now. Apparently not.

Dennis didn't use it on the Bigfoot. Watched Busty, Morra, LeeVan, and Filler didn't use it. Filler did use it at the Mosconi cup. Shaw didn't use it. I'm not sure if he used at the MC. I think Melling uses the revo, but I didn't watch his match.

Gorst is using CF shaft from CueTek, or at least he is wearing CueTek patch on his shirt.

That is the best idea so far.....gamble with chips.

It seems like a state like Louisiana would be a much better fit for an event like derby with their layed back laws on gambling. Diamond is probably locked in for x amount of years through a contract and could face some financial repercussions if they just picked up and moved the event.

Also very convenient for Diamond, 30 minutes away, to transport the all those tables to the venue. Helps keep cost down to run the event.

Cue the Beatles song "Taxman". You go to cash in after winning a big set and have to pay taxes on it. IMO this would kill the action part of the event. Its what killed JohnstonCity years ago. IRS swooped in and it was OVER.

Too bad he doesn't give it a try with a second event again, this time in NOLA at the Harrah's in the summer :D

Louisiana would be the nuts for an event geared for action. You would need an armored truck just for the guy's 10% who ran a player auction with 400+ players.

OK, some random observations from a well placed observer who prefers to remain anonymous. I cannot personally vouch for the accuracy of all this stuff but the guy on scene is pretty good:

Over 500 in the banks.

Every table, to include the Action Room and 14.1 room, are being used to accommodate.

Larry Nevel has been seem in a wheel chair missing a leg just below the knee.

DO is giving Lil John 6 games on the wire going to 10 for $10K. Lil John lost the first set hill-hill. A second set ensues.

Evan Lunda is banking like Zeus.

There's construction at the casino and as a result the ice cream shop is gone.

Some regular amateur type guy drew SVB his first round and their table is swamped by a huge load of sweaters watching him get drilled.

That is all.

Lou Figueroa

Who won the 2nd set with Dennis and Lil John? I think Dennis to 12, John to 5 per the PPV info.

Don't gotta cash in all at once.....and it's sure easier to carry big amounts in chips.
.....Bitcoin has showed up in gambling stakes also.

Everything is closed, pizza is $9 a slice and Binions is the only decent place to eat which is a minimum of $40 if you only have creamed spinach.

Just what I heard from a fella dinking balls...

What in the world is the deal with a gambling casino, of all places, hassling people about making bets on pool games. They must be crazy.
The place is already robbing people with prices on rooms, food, drinks, and the rakeoffs and house edge payouts at the tables and slots. Are they so greedy they want to get a rakeoff on the side pool action as well?
I despise that type of thinking.
Sounds, to me, like a facility to avoid.

Dafuq I thought someone hacked my account and wrote this lol...

Its a casino, and a VERY greedy one. Thats always been the case and always will be. Greg is making a shit ton off the tournament and thats probably why they let another 100 in the banks. Everything is overpriced and any monies that leave pockets are suppose to go to the house, not other individuals (according to them). For anyone that thinks theyre getting a deal on a room with the DCC rate theyre dead wrong, the prices of the rooms are cheaper throughout the year. They jack the price up for the DCC rate then rape everyone else who doesnt call ahead and reserve one at the aforementioned increased rate. They wanted to charge me $289 from 1:00 am until checkout time at 10:00 am, but hey...the casino and Greg is just looking to help out the pool player. It is definitely not catered towards the pool player anymore, but the pool enthusiast who has plenty of jelly. It is a stone cold fact they make more in these 10 days than any other time during the year, on rooms, food and in the casino. Its a damn ghost town the week before and after the DCC lol.

To sum up, the Derby City Classic is a thing of the past...the Derby City Con is the way of the future :D
