My first time going to this event and I'm really looking forward to it. I assume there will a few vendors there.

Does anyone know if there is usually someone there who re-tips cues on the day?

I need one doing but as this is relatively close now I can wait a couple of weeks. Pointless waiting if nobody is there to do it though!

Thanks - and 'see you there'...

I'll be at the tournament desk. Can't wait, thinking about leaving a day or two early and hitting a few places along the way.

Joe Blackburn is usually there with Steve Lomax. They both do perfect work. I'm sure you could reach out to either or both of them on Facebook to confirm though.

stop at walmart/grocery store before going. food is not all that great and stupidly over-priced. if you want to get out NewAlbany is just up the road and has some pretty decent food spots.

Blackburn/Lomax have rewrapped cues of mine in an hour. I bet they could do a tip in a few seconds. It just depends on how much of a backlog they have.

New Albany has restaurants from White Castle to gastropubs. Several good places to get breakfast. Most are right along the river road or one or two over -- Main St. to Elm St. Waffle House near the first hotels you run into. For upscale but not too expensive try The Exchange on Main. The Dollar General at 624 State is huge. Kroger's/Target/Starbucks/Chick-fil-a/5 Guys/KFC/Arby/McDonald's/etc. are all in a small area near State and Green Valley.

Bob <-- been there, done that

Thanks - I look forward to a getting a new tip put on in a few seconds.

I wonder if there has even been a race between people re-tipping cues? Sadly enough I think I'd quite enjoy watching a competition to see who could professionally re-tip 5 cues the quickest.

I missed the early bird special last Year. My annual email arrived late. I payed more and saw less.
$59.99 is a great deal for this 9 day event. The only thing better is being there.

Are they EVER going to set up a secondary streaming table?! It doesn't even need commentary or a camera boom or any of that crap. Most would be happy just listening to the natural sounds around the table anyways rather than Bill Briarpatch Gibbs. Its looooong overdue.

🥱

There are 3 sets of streams. Ray, Accustats, and "them"

Just to confirm the answer to my own question.
Yes - Blackburn cue mechanic was at the 2023 DCC.

He was very busy but pretty organized. You left you cue with him and you got a ticket number. You went back an hour or so later to pick your cue up. A very knowledgeable guy who would answer any type of cue maintenance question.

Plus tons of vendors. If you're in the market for a new cue then there's probably too many to choose from. A nice problem to have but definitely turn up knowing roughly what you want. Just browsing them all will have your head spinning.
