DCC Field Sizes? (and stories)

I just checked out the DCC web site for the first time since the tournament and I like the detailed payout charts. Love seeing how the different players stacked up in each event.

What I'm really curious about though especially since I am considering entering in the future is what were the total field sizes of each of the 3 main open events: 9 Ball Banks, One Pocket, and 9 Ball?

Additional info that would be nice is some field size info from past years just for comparison purposes.

I could not find this anywhere. I did notice that most of the names in each of the payout charts were recognizable to me. This also makes me more curious about the total field sizes and how many lesser known and unknown players actually play in these events.

Thanks in advance for any info and just to make this thread more fun I invite all of you who participated this year to share your experiences. Highlights, lowlights, and any interesting or entertaining stories from your DCC experience.

Over the course of the events, different people mention different field sizes (for the same event in the same year). The numbers I'll give here are from actually counting the number of players on the "Completed Matches" lists posted each year during the events. So these may not be the "official" numbers, but they are at least close.

DCC Field Sizes:

Year -- Banks, One-Pocket, 9-Ball

2016 -- 475, 397, 406

2015 -- 414, 351, 310

2014 -- 361, 298, 263

2013 -- 353, 280, 277

Thanks much. Exactly what I was hoping for. I'm very surprised that the average number for 9-Ball is lower than the others. I expected it to be way higher.

This tournament is held in bank country, thus the high number of bank entrants. As for one pocket, the enthusiasts travel from all over the country since there are very few quality one pocket tournaments to play.

9 ball tournaments are so much more prevalent and the entry fee is the highest of the three, so amateurs like myself don't always race to jump in that one.

One reason is that because Banks is first w/the least expensive entry. Most who simply want to play a little but then gain entry for the entire event can do so w/the single entry in lieu of paying the gate fee for the entire week and not getting to play at all.

Not sure if this is exactly what you're looking for but; I do recall not too long ago I was on the website ( it was dcc tickets or something like that ) and I was able to click on a year - all the way back to inception and review all of the tourney results. Check it out and see if that is what you speak of.

+1 here...I think there are many people who do this. It certainly makes economic sense if you're going to be there the whole time...and you never know, you might get matched up with a world champion (I did! :D).

That is also helpful but did not show total number of entries. So that information was helpful to me.

Ive been posting one pocket videos on you tube a while now... if interested, look up my Obi Wan Kenobi of 1P.... Bob Barkhurst. He is a great guy, great player and has been both since the 70's.
