Maybe SAJ should have gotten the award that year! She also quit a set half way through against Richie Richeson that she THOUGHT was a lock.
I know I bet on several of her matches including that one!! They were supposed to play it out and not pro-rate but guess what!!!
They saved themselves some money when she quit!! They pro-rated!!
All her matches were drama filled Diva type stuff...not my cup of tea for sure as I'm not star struck in the least!
edit to Add: I voted for Jason Kirkus for this award this year. He staked some big games! I know the award is meant to be a player but the stakehorse deserves credit to for making these games happen!!
Also (and no offense to anyone) I will get flamed for this but this is just my opinion. The award has seen a drop in player pedigree since moving to the casino. TOP pros used to be in the running for award but it's more second tier now. There are simply too many events for the PROS to compete in leaving no time to gamble. While the addition of the Bigfoot has been popular with many, it's diluting the gambling among the elite!!!! And this is something I feared would happen from the beginning. The up and comers are the ones who are gambling more than anyone.

Gary -
I enjoyed your post.
Thanks for posting it as it made me think.
I agreed with it, as much as I know.
Years ago, I used to see Weenie Beenie match up without the woofest, and play and pay after each game discretely in a pocket. I watched him and thought he was a classy gambler.
But today, it seems that the best thing to do is create drama, put on woofest show, seldom play and when it is a true gamble quit and prorate.
Weenie Beenie would never win the Louie Roberts Award, with today’s criteria, he gambled with too much class, and never wanted to pay with quarters.
