DCC Missing in Action

max eberly, baracks, bowman and many other players comes to mind as well! very expensive trip is my guess!

Dennis Hatch said he would never play because of the race to 7 format.

Yes and we saw the consequence of having such lame short races in the 9-ball division. The last 16-20 players were all just bangers, with a totally unknown ending up as winner.

Pleasing everyone

You will not please everyone all of the time. You do the best you can with the time allotted. If some had their way it would be a race to 100 or whatever to make it to their advantage.

Fine, put the pros against the pros and see how much that pays. They need to keep facing the joes in this type of game to get the prize money at a level worth having.

I like the format and think it keeps it interesting. I like the idea of the underdog having a chance to knock off a pro. Let's see you do that in the NFL or NBA.

If true, then he must not like a shot at putting up little money to win quite a bit of money. This event would not be possible if the races were longer. For instance, I sweated a onepocket match that took almost three hours. If they extended that division to a race to four, we'd just have to cancel the nine ball all together.

Also, there is absolutely no future with extended races without some sort of major sponsorship adding significant money to the event. As some said, that's why you need to keep the amateurs in the field to add money to pay out.

I understand that some pros want to extend the races to 100 or 1000 or 1 MM or whatever, I really do. But as a spectator, I won't pay to watch it. I would and did pay for the last SVB match that had the race to 25 each day. I don't want to be tied to an event for an all day marathon. Sorry, I do have a life.

To sum up, have them keep playing these long races and keep having me and people like me keep my money in my wallet. They can keep on playing for peanuts if they so choose...

We seem to get some pretty legitimate results year after year with the race to 7 format. Troy Frank the first year was the only semi fluke and that was more due to the 'bye factor' than race length.

Yea, but Troy Frank can play

I hope you're not suggesting Troy didn't play a great tourney? Yea, the byes helped near the end, but he still had to fade the field, and then mange to survive the finals. The short race gives the shortstop a chance, but they still gotta perform. Any player who can win any one of these tournies, had to play well to get to the finals, and then stand up to the pressure to finish it off.

Kinda makes what Shane just did, a bit more impressive. Or what Efren has done too. Any player who has won any event at DCC, has really accomplished something. That's just my opinion.

One more amazing stat to me, is Dee Adkins winning the all around, without winning a single event.

@jalapalus Logan I tried reping you bit there's an iPhone gliche and the screen disappears everytime I tried to. Then I tried quoting your post but because it was long I can't scroll down in the quote screen. Maybe I'm the idiot:( Anyways, I've said it before and I'll say it again. What's best for the pros and for the viewers is rarely the same.

If i didnt at least give Troy an asterisk, someone else would have brought him up so i figured id cut that off. Your points are good.

Couldn't agree more, Matt. The sport needs to be more INclusive and less EXclusive. The more Joe Nobodies that enter the game, participate, compete, and put their 2 cents in, the better the sport will become. Making the game harder and harder, pockets smaller and smaller, WILL give you the best player in the world, but it scares the hell out of people who only know 8 ball.
